40-hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training

This course has been approved and Certified by the Facilitator Training Committee, a sub-committee of the San Diego Domestic Violence Council. It meets the certification and training requirements found in California Penal Code 1203.098 *Meets the minimum training requirements toward certification by the Probation Department per Penal Code 1203.098.

This 40-hour Training covers 5 workshop days. Each day of the workshop lasts for 8 hours (8 am to 5 pm, and includes four 10 minute breaks and 45 minutes for lunch. Snacks and refreshments are provided.

Location: Sonrise Church 8805 N. Magnolia, Santee, CA.

The goal of this workshop is to provide the fundamental training of the DV standards, operational techniques, and best practices used in the treatment of domestic violence offenders. The State of California currently requires that Batterer Intervention Programs be certified and monitored, as well as adhere to specific guidelines and procedures. This workshop will examine how various programs are integrated in a community wide partnership of agencies and programs to treat Domestic Violence in our community.

This workshop will include lectures, presentations, participant experiences, questions and answer periods. Workshop participants will have gained basic skills needed to work within a Batterer Intervention Program and the DV community. Participants will  successfully complete the mandated initial 40 hour basic training as required in 1203.098 of the California Penal Code.

The course work at San Diego Counselor Training is taught by  Directors of   Batterer Intervention Programs.

Dr. Barry Lord has over 20 years of experience as a clinician and is currently the Director and Facilitator of a Domestic Violence treatment program in San Diego, California.
